The WFC Knoxville, TN Kick-Off

August 11-13, 2011 will be 3 days that will change the lives of many. Those that attend will find themselves learning more and engaged in activities that will help them to grow in awareness regarding their health and fitness as well as that of others. The integration of behavioral change that will be part of this event is well worth it. With leading industry experts in health, fitness and nutrition, you’re going to get it all. Add the mental component and it’s complete.

Why should you attend?

Maybe I should ask, why shouldn’t you attend? It’s a matter of changing yourself and applying that change to others in your life. Being healthy and fit not only affects your body, but it also affects how you think. When a person is unfit, so is their brain. So, if you were to ask yourself, do I really want to be dumber and fatter? Probably not. Nobody really does. Though, that’s the reality facing our country as well as many other countries.

The latest studies in fitness as well as cognitive neuroscience prove this out.

At the Kick-Off, you’ll learn how to supply your body good nutrition. You’ll learn how to prepare delicious meals that will help your body while satisfying your palate. Hey, how about fun fitness activities! You’ll get that too! Heck, you’ll even learn how you can use the Gym In A Bag system anywhere without needing to step foot in a gym. And get super-fit too!

So mark on your calendar and prepare yourself for this wonderful event. It’s August 11-13, 2011. You will glad you attended.

So You Want to Be Healthier, Right? Read On….

America may be the land of the free, but we’re also the land of the fat. We’ve consumed our way to both debt and overweight. Many may think that they are okay. It’s not true. Among the industrialized countries of the world, we are the fattest!

In a recent article by the US News (http://health.usnews.com/health-news/diet-fitness/heart/articles/2011/04/22/to-get-americans-healthier-us-targets-the-heart), it stated that U.S. Health officials are targeting the heart in order for people to get healthier. They recommend the two things that we’ve always stated – exercise more and eat right. This is not news. It’s something that been stated many times before. And yet, people are not getting it.

The time to change is NOW! It starts with changing the way YOU THINK, NOW!

Let’s move from focusing on the number of people that are sick and getting sicker to focusing on the number of people that are healthy and how we can increase that. Think about the time when our country was much healthier. When kids didn’t spend their time playing video games or watching TV. There was a time when kids played outdoors and moved a lot.

There was a time when parents would join in many outdoor activities and engaged physically with their children. There was a time when families gathered around the table and ate homemade meals with fresh salads and nothing came from a can or package.

Let’s make that time of old new again. Let’s learn how to make a difference in your life and the lives of those you care about. That’s a big part of what The Weekly Fitness Challenge is all about.

This August the WFC will be starting its first Kick-Off in Knoxville, Tennessee to help “Change the Shape of the World.” There will be festivities and educational seminars. It’s about bringing back a way of life that was full of health and vitality. That includes eating healthy and moving more.

So, if you truly want to be healthy, let’s gather together and help each other. Let’s start at this first of many events that will do just that. Let’s help make a difference so your children will enjoy a life that is full and of high quality. I know it’s easy not to take control. And that’s the key to becoming healthier. Take back your life by taking back control of what you do everyday. Make each moment count on what you eat and what you do.

Become Healthier by Taking Control through building a Good Foundation of Health!

If You’re a Business Owner, What is Obesity Costing You?

In 2008, a report by Strategies to Prevent and Overcome Obesity (STOP), they talked about employers were concerned about obesity, but did not know what they could do about it.  See http://www.stopobesityalliance.org/ for more information.

Earlier in 2006, Forbes reported that there was a hidden cost to employers regarding obesity. http://www.forbes.com/2006/07/19/obesity-fat-costs_cx_mh_0720obesity.html Even the Brookings Institution stated how obesity affects the economic costs:

And at the rate of the increase of obesity what will the world be like? We know that in the last 30 years, the rates of obesity have increased and while drugs and such have helped in decreasing cardiovascular disease, this is only a temporary solution to a major epidemic. How will nations, that have the majority of its population that is overweight or obese, function in the future? What are the economic costs to each business? There are many more questions that are being asked.

We, at The Weekly Fitness Challenge, hope to address those questions and offer solutions to each business owner this August in Knoxville, Tennessee. There are solutions that will take the effort of all of us.
